Wear the question.

Original artwork at the meeting point of classical philosophy, mathematics and intelligent machines. Each piece is printed on a heavyweight garment and opens onto an interactive exhibit.

The Observer: the artwork for artifact 001
  1. I · The Question

For two thousand years we've asked: is the world there when no one is looking?

  2. II · The Mirror

The sphere shows him only his reflection.

Everything we see, we see through ourselves.

  3. III · Within

Look past the surface, and a universe opens inside it.

  4. IV · The Gaze Returned

At its heart, the universe holds the observer, looking back.

Maybe observing is how the world becomes real.

  5. V · The Artifact

Every artifact begins as a question.

This one became 001 · The Observer: original artwork, a heavyweight garment, and a world behind the label.

The physical artifact

The artwork is the product. The garment is its medium.

  • 01 7.5 oz heavyweight cotton, garment-dyed in shadow, cement, white, mocha and oatmeal.
  • 02 Large stippled artwork on the back; the APORIA mark on the chest.
  • 03 A printed museum placard under the artwork, with its artifact number.
  • 04 A permanent QR code in the placard that opens the digital exhibit.

Digital gallery

Every QR code opens a world.

Rotate the philosopher. Open the sphere. Read where history ends and speculation begins. The first exhibit, The Observer, is live.
